The Ivy restaurant chain is reviving plans to open a venue in Newcastle after previous delays due to the pandemic, with several prime locations being considered.
Newcastle: The Ivy restaurant chain is back with plans to open in Newcastle. They first wanted to launch five years ago but had to pause due to the pandemic.
Initially, they aimed to take over the Byron burger spot on Grey Street. Unfortunately, lockdown hit just after their planning applications were submitted, and the plans fell through.
Now, The Ivy is considering Newcastle again. They haven’t picked a location yet, but there are some great spots available. One option is the old JG Windows unit in Central Arcade.
This site became available after the music business went under. Property agents say both restaurants and retail brands are interested in it, and splitting the space is being discussed.
Also, Lloyds Bank is moving to Monument Mall soon, which will free up a historic building on Grey Street. This space could be perfect for The Ivy’s new restaurant.
Currently, the nearest Ivy restaurants are in York, Harrogate, and Leeds. The Ivy has expanded to 45 locations across the UK since the pandemic, offering a variety of meals and drinks.
They recently opened a new restaurant in Liverpool, transforming the old Bank of England building there.
