Newcastle: The North East is bracing for some wild weather as Storm Éowyn rolls in. It’s expected to hit on Friday, bringing some serious winds.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning. They’re saying we could see winds of 60-70mph inland and even stronger along the coast. So, it’s going to be a bit rough out there!

Weather maps show the stormy weather arriving late Thursday night. By 3am Friday, the winds will start picking up. By 6am, the whole region will feel the gusts.

Newcastle will see winds around 48mph, while places like Hexham and Alnwick will be a bit windier. By 9am, those numbers jump up to 72mph in Newcastle and even higher in other areas.

At noon, the winds will peak, with Berwick-upon-Tweed hitting 82mph! That’s some serious wind. The gusts will stick around until about 9pm, then calm down overnight.

The Met Office warns that while the storm’s path isn’t set in stone, we should expect very strong winds. So, if you’re out and about, be careful!

And just a heads up, the weather for the next few days looks chilly. We’ll have some frost and maybe even some snow in the hills. So, keep warm and stay safe!
