Cork: Met Eireann has issued a rare Status Red alert. Storm Éowyn is bringing some serious winds. We’re talking gusts over 130km/h.

Starting at 3 am Friday, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, and Clare are under this Red warning. The rest of the country is on Status Orange.

The forecasters are saying this storm could be a real danger. They expect life-threatening conditions, travel chaos, and even event cancellations. Coastal areas might see flooding too.

This Red alert lasts until 10 am Friday. BBC NI’s Barra Best tweeted that this could be the worst storm since 1961. That storm, Debbie, was deadly, with 18 lives lost.

Storm Éowyn is set to sweep across Ireland from Thursday. Expect strong winds, sleet, and snow in the west and northwest. Heavy rain and high seas are also on the way.

Met Éireann is keeping a close eye on things. They’ll update warnings as the storm approaches. Stay safe out there!
