Newcastle: A new campaign is here to help folks in need. It’s called the Warm Welcome campaign. It’s all about finding a cozy spot this winter.

Today marks the start of Warm Welcome Week. This week aims to spread the word about safe spaces across the UK. These hubs are perfect for anyone struggling to heat their homes or feeling lonely.

There are over 5,000 registered spaces nationwide. In the North East, you can find them in places like Newcastle, Gateshead, and Sunderland. Surprisingly, many people don’t know about these spaces, even though most live close by.

They chose to launch this week on ‘Blue Monday.’ This day is often linked to feeling down and unmotivated. The campaign encourages everyone to wear bright colors to show support.

Gordon Brown, the former Prime Minister, is backing this campaign. He believes these spaces offer hope and friendship during tough times. He wants everyone to feel the warmth of community this winter.

The Warm Welcome website has a handy map to find your nearest space. All these spots are free and offer hot drinks and a chance to chat with others.

In the North East, there are many Warm Welcome spaces. From Newcastle to Northumberland, there’s a hub nearby. Many are family-friendly and have free WiFi, books, and games.
