Gateshead: A new pub called Lock & Quay has opened. It’s in an old police station and offers great views of the River Tyne and its bridges.

Twenty years ago, the Quayside was a hot spot for nightlife. Places like The Boat and Baja Beach Club were always packed. People loved going to Chase, Casa, and Sea too.

Recently, the Gateshead side of the Tyne has seen a boost with By The River Brew. It’s close to the popular River Beat restaurant, which was also a police station. Now, River Beat has become Lock & Quay. Owners Jake Shephard and Graham Soult want to create a friendly, community pub with good prices.

Since opening late last year, Lock & Quay has attracted many workers from nearby offices. It’s a place where people can relax and enjoy a drink without breaking the bank.

Jake shared their vision for the pub. He wants it to feel traditional and welcoming. He believes people shouldn’t have to pay £8 or £9 for a pint, especially now.

Lock & Quay offers great value. No draught beer costs more than £6. They have a 2 for £12 cocktail deal every day, takeaway coffees, and tasty pub food like burgers and chicken wings.

Jake aims to keep the atmosphere relaxed. He wants everyone to feel comfortable walking in. With years of experience in hospitality, he has no pretenses.

Lock & Quay is open six days a week. They offer free private hire and stay open until 10pm Tuesday to Thursday, 11pm on Fridays, and 9pm on Sundays. Check out the first look pictures below.
