Storm Eowyn is approaching with strong winds, but how does it stack up against Storm Arwen’s past chaos in the North East?
North East: People are getting ready for Storm Eowyn. It’s expected to bring winds up to 90mph. But remember Storm Arwen? That was a wild ride just over three years ago.
Back in November 2021, Storm Arwen hit hard. Winds reached nearly 100mph, peaking at 98mph in Brizlee Wood, Northumberland. It was a real mess.
Storm Arwen is still fresh in our minds. It was one of the worst winter storms in a decade. Thousands of trees fell, and over a million homes lost power. Buildings were damaged, and the coast was especially risky.
Those winds were the strongest the North East had seen since 1984. Now, Storm Eowyn is on the way. It’s going to be severe, but thankfully, it shouldn’t hit the same heights as Arwen.
