Gateshead: A man is in trouble for leaving two donkeys in a Northumberland field. They had no shelter or water. This situation has raised serious concerns about animal welfare.

One donkey was in bad shape. It was underweight, lame, and had painful conditions. The other donkey also had overgrown hooves and sharp teeth. Both animals were unable to move properly.

An RSPCA officer visited the field near Haggs Bank. They found the donkeys without any care. Sadly, one donkey died shortly after being seized, but it’s unclear if it was due to neglect.

David Donaghey, the owner, pleaded guilty in court. He faces a possible prison sentence and a ban on keeping animals. The court is reviewing the case and will decide on February 27.

The RSPCA is pushing for a ban on Donaghey keeping animals. They also want to seize his other equines. This case highlights the importance of proper animal care and welfare.
