A car collided with a closed restaurant in Byker, leading to three arrests and one man hospitalized with serious injuries following a disturbance.
Emergency services rushed to Lou’s Diner on Fossway around 7:30 PM on Sunday. The diner, famous for its Geordie Breakfast Pizza, has now shut down for good.
On Monday, police were still present at the scene. They had their Specialist Search Team there, and photos showed damaged glass doors at the restaurant.
Northumbria Police reported that a vehicle hit the restaurant before being set ablaze. A group of men then got into a fight. Three men were arrested, and one man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
A police spokesperson said they received reports of the incident shortly after 7:30 PM. They confirmed that all involved parties are known to each other, and there’s no threat to the public.
