North Shields: A new Lego model of the Sycamore Gap tree has been created. Steve Mayes, from Brick This, designed it to honor the tree lost in 2023.

His company has made models of local landmarks before. The Sycamore Gap model will help two charities. It’s based on the famous tree at Hadrian’s Wall.

Steve has other models on display, like the Angel of the North and St James’ Park. He’s excited about this new kit, which has over 600 pieces.

The kit measures 32 cm wide and 13 cm high when built. It comes in a signed box, making it a special item for collectors.

Recently, good news emerged about the tree. The stump shows signs of life, and 49 saplings have been grown from its seeds. These saplings are called ‘Trees of Hope’ and have been donated to various charities.

To celebrate, the first 49 kits sold will include a mini-figure and a sapling. For each kit sold, £10 will be donated to two charities: The National Trust’s Hadrian’s Wall Appeal and The Northumberland National Park Foundation.

Steve, who used to be an architectural photographer, started Brick This with a model of the Newcastle-Gateshead skyline. His kits use official Lego parts but are not affiliated with the Lego company.

He aims for his sets to be collector’s items, each coming with a presentation box, instructions, and all necessary parts.
