Former footballer Sammy Ameobi has confessed to a hit and run incident, leaving a teenager injured after crashing his car during rush hour
After the crash, he left the scene, leaving the 19-year-old in a tough spot. The girl was hurt and had to be rushed to the hospital. Her family said she was thrown into oncoming traffic, which sounds terrifying.
Ameobi was tracked down after the victim’s mom made a public appeal. She mentioned his unique license plate, SAMM11Y, which helped police find him. It turned out he didn’t have valid insurance for the car either.
When questioned, Sammy said he panicked because he had just started a new job. He was in a hurry to get to work and felt stressed. He admitted it was wrong to leave the scene and that he was just overwhelmed at that moment.
In court, he pleaded guilty to failing to stop after the accident and driving without insurance. He was fined and received penalty points on his license. Sammy expressed regret, saying it was out of character for him.
He shared that he had been up all night at the hospital with his son, who had a health scare. It’s clear he was under a lot of pressure. Sammy has had a solid career in football, but this incident has put a shadow over it.
