Record Store Day celebrates independent record shops across the UK. Special vinyl releases are made just for this day. Many shops host events and performances, making it a big deal in the music world.
To celebrate, Sam is releasing a limited-edition EP called “Me and the Dog.” It has six tracks, including two new songs. You can only buy it in participating stores on April 12.
Sam expressed his excitement about being the ambassador. He emphasized the importance of indie stores for music fans. They help people discover new artists and connect with others.
This year is special for Sam and his band. They’re releasing a new album called “People Watching.” They used photos from North East photographer Tish Murtha for the album artwork.
Sam mentioned that the EP was almost the album’s name. It features two unreleased songs, “I’m Always On Stage” and “Empty Spaces.” He thanked independent stores for their support.
Over 270 indie shops will participate in Record Store Day this year. It’s a key event for the vinyl revival, helping these shops thrive.
In Newcastle, shops like Beyond Vinyl and Reflex Records will join in. In Sunderland, Hot Rats Record will also participate.
Alan Jordan, owner of Reflex Records, shared his excitement about Sam being the ambassador. He praised Sam for supporting the North East and staying true to his roots.
Alan noted that Sam is a real vinyl fan. He loves seeing a local artist shine a light on indie record shops.
