A notorious criminal has been fined after verbally attacking staff at Eldon Square, adding to his lengthy record of offences
Newcastle: A well-known crook just added to his long list of crimes. Richard Bartle, with 363 offences, verbally abused staff at Eldon Square.
He was shouting and swearing at NE1 rangers trying to detain him. This happened in front of at least 100 people. Can you imagine the scene?
Bartle, who has no fixed address, was arrested and taken to court the next day. He pleaded guilty to a public order offence. The prosecutor shared that the rangers had to call the police for help.
While being held, he was abusive and threatening. It’s wild to think so many people witnessed it. Bartle has a history of trouble, with his last conviction in August.
His lawyer mentioned he’s been in custody for a non-imprisonable offence. In the end, he was fined £80, plus costs and a victim surcharge. Just another day in the life of a notorious criminal.
