Newcastle: The Redheugh Bridge is closed right now. A lorry has overturned because of Storm Éowyn. It’s causing quite a mess in the area.

The bridge is shut between Scotswood Road and Askew Road. Pedestrians can’t cross either. It’s a bit of a hassle for everyone trying to get around.

Storm Éowyn is really making things tough today. Trains from Newcastle Central Station are cancelled. Flights from Newcastle Airport are also grounded. Even the main street in Berwick-upon-Tweed is closed.

Northumbria Police said the bridge is closed while they recover the vehicle. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported. That’s a relief!

Gateshead Council shared an update on X, formerly Twitter. They mentioned that only one lane is open northbound. Southbound traffic and pedestrians are out of luck.

The North East Ambulance Service is also on standby. They’re keeping an eye on the situation.
