Paignton Zoo will soon feel like Australia. Two wallabies are arriving this spring: Stripe and Pretty Boy. They’re part of a popular zoo experience called the Wallaby Walkthrough.

The two wallabies are young, red-necked wallabies. They will join other wallabies at the zoo, bringing the total number to ten. Visitors will see two kinds of wallabies: red-necked and swamp wallabies.

Sam Gray, who works at Paignton Zoo, says they have both species and can showcase wallaby diversity. Visitors will learn about these animals. He shared that the new wallabies are curious and confident.

You can see differences in the walkthrough. Swamp wallabies hop in their own way, while red-necked wallabies are usually larger. The walkthrough closed in early 2020 but will reopen for February break, promising an exciting experience.

Stripe and Pretty Boy came from Combe Martin Wildlife Park, where a storm damaged enclosures. This partnership helps animal welfare and shows strong zoo community connections.

Louisa Johnson, who works at Combe Martin, looked for a home for the wallabies, who are offspring from the park’s females. She is happy they found a good home, and Paignton Zoo will offer a great experience.

The walkthrough has limited days. Volunteer guides share wallaby facts, helping visitors and protecting animals. People must stay on paths and can’t feed or touch the wallabies.
