Swalwell: It’s been a rough few days in Gateshead. Northumbria Police had to respond to three separate blade attacks in just three days. That’s pretty alarming, right?

The first incident happened late Saturday night. A man in his 20s got hurt on Coalway Lane North. Thankfully, his injuries weren’t life-threatening, but the attackers ran off before the police arrived.

Then, on Monday evening, police were called back to the same area. This time, a woman in her 40s was injured, also with non-life-threatening wounds. Again, the offenders were gone by the time help got there.

Police think these two cases are connected. They believe the people involved know each other. A 28-year-old man was arrested but has been released on bail.

On Sunday afternoon, things got tense again. A group of young people had a fight on Hexham Road. A 15-year-old boy ended up with an arm injury and went to the hospital. A 14-year-old was arrested but also released on bail.

Police are keeping a close eye on the area. They want to reassure the community and are increasing patrols. If anyone has information, they can reach out through social media or call 101. It’s important to keep everyone safe and informed.
