Northumberland: A pub known as a hidden gem got a new name for the show Vera. Brenda Blethyn, the star of the series, has become a big fan of this place.

Vera has filmed in the North East for 14 years. The beautiful scenery of Northumberland has appeared many times. Locations like Berwick, Blyth, Alnwick, and Cramlington have all been featured.

Sadly, Vera ended in January. The final series aired over consecutive nights, attracting nearly 7 million viewers. Brenda, as DCI Stanhope, wrapped up her role in the last episode.

At a press event, Brenda shared her love for the North East. She praised The Ship Inn on Holy Island, where the cast filmed a Christmas special. DCI Stanhope lives on Holy Island, and Brenda’s last scene was filmed there.

Brenda mentioned how lovely it is to drive across the Holy Island causeway. She had filmed many scenes there but finally explored the village and harbor during The Rising Tide.

She also took a boat ride from Holy Island, despite the cold. The Ship pub, which became The Seahorse in the story, welcomed the crew warmly.

Northumberland played a big role in the last two episodes. The River Wansbeck was a crime scene, and Glanton village hosted a huge parade scene in the finale.
