Stamfordham: It’s a tough day for many. Steven Ling, the man who killed Joanne Tulip on Christmas Day, is out of prison. He stabbed her 60 times, which is just horrific.

Joanne’s mom, Doreen Soulsby, is understandably upset. She feels scared for all women now that Ling is back in the community. She got the news this morning and has been dreading it.

Doreen believes Ling’s release is a huge mistake. She worries he could hurt someone else. Ling was in prison for life, but after five parole hearings, he was recommended for release.

The Justice Secretary even asked the Parole Board to rethink their decision, but they stood by it. They said they focus on the risk a prisoner poses to the public.

Ling’s past is troubling. He admitted to raping Joanne, even though he wasn’t officially labeled a sex offender. The judge had told him he would stay in prison as long as he was a danger to women.

After serving 18 years, Ling is now out but under strict conditions. He has to inform authorities about any relationships and stay away from Joanne’s family.

The Ministry of Justice said Ling will be monitored closely. If he breaks any rules, he could go back to prison immediately. It’s a tense situation for everyone involved.
