Mitchelstown: The Indiependence music festival won’t be at its usual spot in North Cork this year. Landowner Michael O’Shea confirmed this news recently.

The festival last happened in 2023 and took a break in 2024, planning to return in 2025. However, O’Shea’s announcement puts that plan in doubt.

He mentioned he would have loved to see the festival back this year. The festival’s social media has been quiet since November 2023, which is unusual.

Indiependence has been a key part of Cork’s music scene since 2006, drawing huge crowds and featuring big names like Hozier and The Coronas.

With no updates and the cancellation at the traditional site, it seems unlikely we’ll see Indiependence in 2025. O’Shea did say that plans for 2026 are still open, so there might be hope for the future.
