Newcastle Pride will return in July 2025, featuring a new Pride Fringe in June. The festival promises more entertainment and support for the LGBTQIA+ community.
A new Pride Fringe will run throughout June. Expect live entertainment, comedy, and theatre leading up to the main celebration on July 19-20. The iconic Theatre Royal will host many events.
Last year, Newcastle Pride moved to the city center and was a big hit. Other regional Pride events in Gateshead, Sunderland, and South Tyneside also saw success. This year, they aim to build on that momentum.
The festival will partner with NE1 Ltd for a city-wide takeover. This means more entertainment, family activities, and health support. The Theatre Royal will feature a Family and Youth Zone.
The independent Alphabetti Theatre will introduce a new zone called Trans+. This area will be a safe and empowering space for the trans and non-binary community. The full festival program is still under wraps, but expect main stage acts in Times Square.
Stephen Patterson from NE1 Ltd and Ste Dunn from Northern Pride are excited about the new layout. They plan to create more space and add a second stage for dance and cabaret acts. The June events will also offer new experiences and networking opportunities.
Northern Pride is calling for artists to participate, supported by Creative Central NCL and Curious Arts. Ste expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from partners and the community.
Council leader Karen Kilgour noted last year’s festival was a milestone, with over 82,000 attendees. The economic impact was around £4 million. She looks forward to celebrating and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community.
Stephen Patterson emphasized the success of moving the festival to the city center. He hopes more local businesses will get involved. Early bird tickets for the Pride Arena are now available, starting at £20 for Saturday and £7.50 for Sunday. Full weekend tickets are £25, with VIP options too.
