A Newcastle man has been sentenced to 14 years for raping two schoolgirls after buying them alcohol. The court highlighted his predatory behavior and lack of remorse.
Rahman met the girls outside a corner shop. He bought them alcohol and started chatting with them. Even after they told him their ages, he continued to engage with them.
Later, he picked them up in his car and drove to a deserted parking lot. There, he forced himself on one girl despite her protests. A month later, he offered a lift to the second girl while she was walking home drunk. Instead of taking her home, he drove her to a remote area and raped her twice.
During sentencing, Judge Tim Gittins noted Rahman’s awareness of the girls’ vulnerability. He criticized Rahman for grooming the girls and taking advantage of their trust.
The victims have since experienced nightmares and flashbacks. Judge Gittins remarked on Rahman’s lack of remorse, despite family references claiming he was a good father.
Charlotte Dennison from CPS North East praised the bravery of the victims. Their clear accounts helped secure multiple convictions against Rahman.
