Newcastle: A music duo is buzzing after being named by BBC Radio 1 as ‘Ones to Watch’ for 2025. Benjamin Fitzgerald and Thomas Dixon, known as Kancho Club, are making waves in the music scene.

They blend DJing, sax, and Latin percussion, creating a unique sound. Jess Iszatt from BBC Radio 1 praised them, saying they’re like “Disclosure but times 1,000.” What a compliment!

After a fantastic year, they’re ready to keep the momentum going. Their track “Fyah” got rave reviews from DJ Mag and Mixmag, and they’re focused on making 2025 their year.

Ben is currently in Sydney but will return to Newcastle soon. He’ll team up with Thomas, who’s living in Heaton, to build on their recent success.

Thomas has a solo show coming up on February 21 in Newcastle, and they have more Kancho Club dates lined up. They’re also planning new releases and remixes this year.

The duo met while studying music and quickly formed Kancho Club. They’ve played at various venues, including Zerox in Newcastle and festivals in Ibiza.

Their journey started with their debut single “Say It Baby” in 2023, and they’ve collaborated with local artists like Frankie Jobling and Mollie Nature.

With this new recognition from BBC Radio 1, they’re incredibly thankful for the support they’ve received. They expressed their gratitude, saying it means the world to them.
