A Newcastle dealer sold crack cocaine to an undercover officer and is now behind bars for his actions. His addiction led him down a dangerous path.
Newcastle: A crack cocaine dealer got caught selling drugs to an undercover cop. Anthony Hopper was living on the streets and using drugs himself.
Last July, he sold crack cocaine to the officer multiple times. On July 15, the officer met him at Exhibition Park. There were about 10 to 15 people around.
Hopper was busy dealing drugs to the group and sold some to the officer too. Just two days later, the officer spotted him on Fenkle Street and bought £20 worth of crack.
Hopper had a rough past, with 17 previous convictions. He pleaded guilty to supplying crack cocaine and got a two-and-a-half-year sentence.
The judge noted that Hopper was well-established in the drug trade. His lawyer mentioned that he was just trying to fund his own addiction while living rough.
Hopper faced many challenges, including mental health issues. He was arrested at a homeless charity, highlighting the struggles he faced.
