Met Eireann Storm Update: Weather Advisory Issued for All of Ireland

Cork: Met Eireann has put out a weather advisory for all of Ireland. Stormy conditions are on the way, starting this week and lasting into the weekend.

From Thursday night, expect heavy rain and strong winds. It’s being called a ‘conveyor belt of storms’ by the Irish Mirror. Sounds intense, right?

This stormy weather is linked to a jet stream causing freezing temps in the U.S. The advisory runs from midday Monday to midnight Saturday.

Met Eireann is keeping a close eye on a low-pressure system that’s heading our way. They say strong winds could cause some damage, along with high seas and heavy rain.

They’re monitoring the situation closely and will update us as they learn more. For the latest, check out the met.ie website or app.

Earlier today, a Status Yellow fog warning was issued but it’s already expired. In Munster, expect a misty start to the week, especially in Cork.

Things are turning colder from tomorrow night, leading to some frosty mornings. By Friday, we might see near gale-force winds and heavy rain, possibly turning to sleet or snow in some areas.

If this weekend’s storm gets a name, it’ll be Storm Éowyn, the first named storm of 2025. Last month, Storm Darragh brought some serious winds and rare Status Red warnings.
