Berwick: A man in his 40s and his dog died after being hit on the A1. This happened on Wednesday evening.

Reports say a yellow Citroen DS3 was going north when it hit the man and his dog. They were on the road at the time.

Emergency services declared both the man and his Cocker Spaniel dead at the scene. His family has been informed.
