Cork will host a vigil next week for two fathers who tragically passed away on the same day, drawing support from the community.
The vigil is organized by Street Angels, a local homeless support group. They’ll also run a soup kitchen afterward. Both men were laid to rest recently, and the community is coming together to remember them.
Hazel Dennehy, who runs Street Angels, knew both men well. She described them as “beautiful gentlemen” who deserve the best in heaven. Everyone is welcome to join and pay their respects.
Many locals are expected to attend, as the news of their deaths has touched the hearts of many in Cork. Shane Grimes-O’Callaghan, known as Alfie, was in his late 20s and a father of two. Friends remember him for his confidence and great smile.
Shane O’Sullivan, or Sully, was in his early 30s and had three kids. He’s remembered as a smart and funny guy who was loved by all. Both were well-known in their neighborhood.
Cork City Cllr Damian Boylan expressed his condolences, calling their deaths a tragedy for their families. This vigil will be the fourth organized by Street Angels this year, showing the community’s strong support for those in need.
