Killingworth: Recently, there was a big fuss over tree felling at a Story Homes site. They were clearing trees for a new housing development. But locals weren’t happy about it.

People started raising concerns, and they reached out to North Tyneside Council. So, the council stepped in and told Story Homes to stop the tree removal. They’re now looking into what happened.

One resident, Robert Marchbanks, was really upset. He called the tree felling a “disgrace.” He found out about it on January 9 and felt the damage was already done.

Jackie Palmer from the council explained that Story Homes had permission to build homes there. But they didn’t inform the council before starting the tree work. Now, they’re making sure everything is clear before any more work happens.

A spokesperson for Story Homes said they followed the rules but had to stop due to a potential issue. They’re working with the council to sort things out.

It’s a bit of a mess, but hopefully, they’ll get it all figured out soon.
