Dukeshouse Wood in Hexham has closed, leading to job losses and affecting local schools’ outdoor activities.
Hexham: An outdoor learning centre called Dukeshouse Wood has closed suddenly. This closure means job losses for staff and fewer options for local schools.
Dukeshouse Wood was part of Kingswood Learning & Leisure Group Ltd, which has gone into administration. It was one of seven centres that shut down, affecting locations across the UK.
Schools loved taking trips to Dukeshouse Wood. Kids enjoyed activities like abseiling and ziplining. They also worked on teamwork skills through fun challenges.
After the closure, only two outdoor learning centres remain in the North East. These are Adventure Training North East and Ford Castle in Berwick-upon-Tweed.
If you had a booking at Dukeshouse Wood, you can reach out to the administration team via email for assistance.
