A group of fathers wowed RTE Late Late Show viewers after rowing 5,000km across the Atlantic to honor a late daughter and raise funds for charity.
Tipperary: Fans of the Late Late Show were amazed by a group of dads. They completed a tough 5,000km row across the Atlantic for charity.
This journey honored John O’Driscoll’s daughter, Saoirse. She passed away at just 13 after battling congenital heart disease.
John and his friends, Conor, Daragh, Enda, and Roger, took on the World’s Toughest Race. They rowed from Spain to Antigua, raising over €460,000 for two charities.
The charities, Children’s Health Foundation and Heart Children Ireland, helped Saoirse during her life. The team finished third after 39 days of rowing.
On the Late Late Show, they shared their story with host Patrick Kielty. Viewers were touched by their heartfelt tribute to Saoirse.
John described Saoirse as a special girl who loved life. He reflected on her strength and the lessons she taught him about family.
Viewers were moved by John’s story. Many called the group an inspiration. One viewer said, “Chopping onions, lads, I swear.”
Another noted, “Saoirse was her dad’s superhero, but tonight, he is one too.”
