Locals demand answers about housing, jobs & town improvements at a public meeting.
The meeting is February 20 at Grangemouth High School. Grangemouth Community Council organized it. They invited Falkirk Council members, allowing residents to ask them questions directly.
Major projects could bring new jobs. These “green jobs” would replace old industries. The Falkirk and Grangemouth Growth Deal exists, as does the Green Freeport project. The council wants to know how these initiatives will help locals, given that unemployment is high at 9.2 percent.
Housing is a big issue. The council questions the rise in HMOs, as Grangemouth already has many flats. They need more family homes instead, believing that families will improve the area.
The council also wants answers on property reviews. These reviews may close Bowhouse Community Centre and the Grangemouth Community Education Unit.
The community council wants real action, not just words. They have ideas for the town’s future. A railway station could bring in workers, while a parking levy could fund a local bus. A housing plan could stop HMOs.
The meeting is from 7 PM to 9 PM in Grangemouth High School’s hall. Send questions to grangemouthcc@gmail.com to ensure they are asked.
