The Gosforth Garden Centre is reopening soon, bringing new jobs and a carvery restaurant to the community. Exciting changes are on the way!
They aim to hire up to 25 people, keeping the current 22 staff. The reopening is set for mid to late February. Exciting, right?
The new owners are sprucing up the restaurant area. They expect to add 12-15 new jobs just from the carvery. Plus, there will be 8-10 seasonal and permanent roles.
Last year, Dobbies closed the Gosforth location due to restructuring. They shut down 17 stores across the UK, affecting around 465 jobs. It was a tough time for many.
Other Dobbies locations, like Ponteland and Stockton, are still open. Interestingly, the Heighley Gate store in Northumberland might also join British Garden Centres soon.
Job postings for the new roles will be on their website. The focus now is to restock and reopen the centre quickly.
Charles Stubbs, the founder, is thrilled about this new addition. He values the Gosforth community and has big plans for the store. He can’t wait to welcome back local residents and make it a go-to spot for gardening needs.
With this acquisition, British Garden Centres now has 68 stores and employs around 2,700 people. They’ve been around since 1987, starting with Woodthorpe Garden Centre.
