Sunderland: Go North East is shaking things up! They’re doubling the number of buses in Sunderland and South Tyneside. This change kicks in on January 26.

The goal? To make it easier for folks to get around. With the new schedule, buses will run more often. For example, the 61 and 62/A routes will now come every 30 minutes.

This means better connections to places like Sunderland Royal Hospital. Plus, if you’re heading to the Winter Garden, the 63 service will also be more frequent.

You’ll be able to catch a bus every seven to eight minutes during the day from Monday to Saturday. That’s pretty awesome!

In total, there will be 14 buses an hour between Grangetown and Sunderland city center. If you’re coming from Ryhope Green, you’ll also see buses every seven to eight minutes.

Over in South Tyneside, they’re making changes too. In Jarrow, you can hop on a bus every 15 minutes from York Avenue. Services 9, 25, and 35 will be running more often.

And there’s a new service 36 linking the Cotswolds Estate to Jarrow. In Fellgate, you’ll find new transport options to Sunderland thanks to the updated service 35 and the new service 36.

Go North East wants everyone to check out the new timetables on their app or website. They’re also hosting drop-in sessions at South Shields and Park Lane bus interchanges. So, don’t miss out!
