A man in Gateshead called his partner to show her he was burning her house down, leading to a shocking court case.
Things got really bad in June 2023. She came home from shopping, and he started yelling at her. Feeling unsafe, she tried to escape to a friend’s place. But Taylor wasn’t done. He jumped in his car and chased her down, screaming threats.
She was terrified, running in circles to avoid him. He even drove on the pavement, trying to hit her. Eventually, she managed to get back home. But Taylor followed her there too.
When she saw him with a crossbow, she knew things were serious. He pointed it at her and made more threats. Later, he video-called her from inside her house. He was pouring liquid on the floor, claiming he would burn it down.
After hanging up, she hoped he wouldn’t go through with it. But soon, a neighbor called to say her house was on fire. The damage was extensive, destroying the entire downstairs.
Taylor was arrested later at a hotel. He had cannabis worth about £2,000 on him. The woman shared how the fire left her living in a wrecked home for months. It really messed with her mental health.
In court, Taylor pleaded guilty to several charges, including arson. He got a six-year prison sentence and a restraining order. The judge said his actions were extremely serious and terrified his ex-partner.
His lawyer claimed he felt remorse and that this all happened during a rough patch in their relationship. Taylor has been in custody for 18 months and is said to be a changed man now.
