Newcastle: Chris Illman, the founder of Wetherspoons The Game, is visiting this weekend. He’s here to help feed the homeless for the first time in the city.

Wetherspoons The Game is a fun online group where people send food and drinks to strangers. Chris started it in 2018 after facing tough times in his life.

He wanted to give back after receiving help during his struggles. The game quickly grew, attracting nearly 770,000 members worldwide.

Every month, Chris plays the game for charity. He shares his location and table number, allowing people to send food through the Wetherspoons app.

This Sunday, February 2, he plans to order 200 burger meals for the homeless at The Mile Castle Wetherspoons. Local charities will collect the meals.

Chris has played the game in many cities, including Liverpool and Manchester. He limits orders to avoid excess food, but snacks have no limit.

In Newcastle, he’s working with Newcastle Helping Street Friends, a local charity that supports the homeless. Nicole Engleby, one of the founders, is excited to help.

Nicole had never heard of the game before Chris reached out. She quickly agreed to help when she learned more about it.

Her team provides essentials like food and toiletries to those in need. They often go out on Fridays to distribute hot drinks and food.

Nicole believes Chris’s efforts will raise awareness about homelessness. She appreciates the positive impact it can have on the community.

Wetherspoons The Game is supported by billychip.com, a system that allows people to give homeless individuals a chip for food or drinks instead of cash.

The event in Newcastle starts at 6 PM on February 2. For more details, check out Wetherspoons The Game on Facebook.
