Dublin: Three social welfare groups are set to receive a €2,000 grant this year. This is part of the Carer’s Support Grant, which has gone up from €1,850. It’s a one-time payment for those who care for others. Carers can use the money however they want.

Some folks spend it on care-related items, while others use it for everyday bills. If a carer looks after multiple people, they get paid for each one. The grant is automatically given to those on Carer’s Allowance, Carer’s Benefit, and Domiciliary Care Allowance.

So, when can you expect this payment? Mark your calendars for June 5, 2025. If you’re already receiving one of the qualifying payments, you don’t need to apply. You’ll get it automatically.

But if you’re not on those payments, you can still apply. Just fill out a form for each person you care for. You can grab the form at your local Intreo Centre or Citizens Information Centre.

To qualify, you need to be over 16, living in Ireland, and caring for someone full-time for at least six months. You also can’t work more than 18.5 hours a week during that time.

It’s a great way to support those who give so much of their time to care for others. If you need more info, check out the official website.
