Beevive founders seek backing for their life-saving bee kits on the popular BBC show.
Faye and Jacob run Beevive. They help bees. Their business started as a hobby. Big names like WWF use their products, and they even went on the BBC show Dragons’ Den.
Faye is 31, and Jacob is 34. They live near Exeter. Hoping to get support for their bee invention, they appeared on the show February 6.
In 2018, they saw a tired bee and found no flowers nearby. A cafe gave them sugar water. The bee drank and flew off.
They felt good and learned about bees. Soon, they created the Bee Revival Kit, a simple and helpful idea.
The kit is a keyring holding bee food syrup so people can feed tired bees. The couple originally sold kits at markets.
Their business grew and is now in Stoke Canon, where six people work. The RSPB and WWF are stockists.
They now sell bee hotel kits, too. They pitched their idea to the Dragons, including Peter Jones.
Faye said it was scary but amazing and helped spread awareness about bees; something she will never forget.
Jacob never dreamed of being on the show. They were nervous at first, but then, the anxiety went away.
The business started at their kitchen table, but now they have a studio and team. Their passion became a job creator, helps bees, and makes them very proud.
They did not get the outcome they hoped for, but it was not a failure because one Dragon helped them, and the show will help too.
Jacob said the pitch went well, and the Dragons liked their products, but most said no to a deal.
Deborah Meaden loved their cause and offered help, not money, as she wanted to guide them.
They met Deborah after the show and exchanged contact details. She gave gave them advice over Zoom and has helped them grow.
