Hey, guess what happened in Derby? They had a Repair Cafe! It seems like many locals showed up to fix their things.

The event was at Mickleover Library on January 25th. Volunteers worked hard, and they fixed about thirty items in total. These included clothing and small appliances.

The cafe showed how repairs help. Fixing stuff saves money, and it is also good for the environment. People fixed toasters and clothes.

One person who visited loved it and almost threw things away. Volunteers gave help kindly, and the visitor thanked them for their support.

Another person called it brilliant, noting it was busy but well-run. A volunteer fixed their old toaster well. Refreshments were there, and it was excellent. People were also kind.

The Repair Cafe helps the community, as people gain new skills and it also promotes a sustainable lifestyle. This benefits everyone.

Sarah Chambers talked about the cafe, saying it is a great addition to the library, inclusive, and welcoming. People share skills there.

The cafe will now be a monthly event, happening the last Saturday of each month. They want to expand it across the city.

The next cafe is February 22nd, running from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. It is free to attend; just bring your broken items. You can call Mickleover Library if needed at 01332 647884.
