Darlington: A robbery in County Durham has led to jail time for two people. Kerry Nevison and Kevin Warne targeted a vulnerable man last June. They followed him after he left a store.

The shopkeeper recognized Nevison and refused them entry. So, they left and spotted the man who had just withdrawn cash. They approached him, asking for money.

The victim, trying to be nice, gave Nevison some change. But then, she snatched his shopping bag while Warne grabbed his wallet and took off. Thankfully, some bystanders saw what happened and returned the wallet to the victim.

In a statement, the victim shared how the robbery affected him. He felt like he did something wrong and started looking over his shoulder all the time. He said he felt scared and unsafe.

Last month, both Nevison and Warne were sentenced at Teesside Crown Court. Nevison, 45, got 29 months, while Warne, 33, received 27 months.

Detective Constable Laura Fairhurst from Durham Constabulary spoke about the incident. She mentioned how traumatic it was for the victim, who has sadly passed away since then. She thanked the public for stepping in to help.

Even though the victim isn’t here to see justice served, she hopes his family finds some comfort knowing the robbers are behind bars.
