Cork is bracing for another round of severe weather with heavy rain and strong winds expected soon
Good news? No snow this time! It won’t be cold enough for that. But we might see some yellow and possibly orange rain warnings. Strong winds are also on the horizon for Friday, making it feel pretty stormy.
For now, it’s going to stay mild. Daytime highs will be above 10°C, and nights will be cooler but not freezing just yet. By mid-week, though, we could see daytime temps drop to around 6°C.
Today, Saturday, is starting off mostly dry with some clouds. A few sunny spells might pop up, especially in the east. Expect highs between 10 and 12 degrees with a nice breeze.
Tonight, we’ll kick off dry, but rain will creep in after midnight, especially in the west. Temperatures will drop to about 4 to 8 degrees.
Tomorrow, Sunday, will be cloudy with light rain moving slowly east. Not much rain expected, but a few bright spots might show up later. Highs will be around 9 to 11 degrees.
Looking ahead, early next week should be mainly dry with just a bit of drizzle. But it’s going to get colder and more unsettled as the week goes on.
Sunday night will see more clouds and light rain, mainly in Leinster and Munster. Monday will be cloudy with some drizzle, especially in the south.
Tuesday will keep the clouds around, but we might get some dry spells. It’ll be chilly, with highs of 7 to 10 degrees.
By Wednesday, expect scattered showers and colder temps. Thursday brings a band of rain, clearing later in the day.
Current forecasts suggest that Friday and the weekend will be a bit of a washout with rain and strong winds. Buckle up, Cork!
