Lyra shares her love for family and the challenges of balancing fame with personal time
Her schedule has been crazy since her debut album hit the charts. With gigs and media appearances, she treasures her downtime with family. Balancing work and family time is tough, but she makes it a priority.
When they finally gather, especially during holidays, they put their phones away. They focus on being present with each other. Lyra said, “It’s not about being a star; it’s about being family.”
She shared how she tries to show up for family events, even if it’s just for a bit. Recently, she had a rare two days off and grabbed coffee with her friends.
Despite her fame, she still loves spending time with her nieces and nephews. They mean the world to her. “I’m obsessed with them,” she said, smiling.
Lyra’s had an exciting year, appearing on the Late Late Show and releasing her album. It even knocked Beyoncé off the top spot in Ireland!
She admits she secretly hates downtime. “I love being busy on the road,” she confessed. But when she does have free time, she often puts on shows with her nieces.
Lyra is very close to her sister, who inspired her to sing. “I always wanted to be like her,” she said. They share a special bond, and she loves her brother too, even if he’s away a lot.
Family is everything to her. She talks to her parents daily and cherishes every moment with her kids. “Time is precious,” she said, reflecting on how quickly life moves.
Lyra is also working on her second album, set to release this year. Recently, she partnered with Safe Ireland and Airbnb for a campaign supporting domestic violence services.
They’re encouraging people to donate to local services, which are free and confidential. It’s a cause close to her heart, and she hopes to make a difference.
