A Cork family’s dream trip to Paris comes true thanks to generous donations
Ava, who has Down syndrome, was diagnosed with leukaemia earlier this year. This was tough for the family, especially since her mum, Cathy, has been battling a rare type of eye cancer. They spent a lot of time in hospitals, so Ava’s sister Chloe started the fundraiser to give them a break.
Now, they’re in Paris! Cathy took Ava to a café in the Eiffel Tower, where she savored her tea and pastry while soaking in the view. Cathy called the support they received “unbelievable” and thanked everyone who contributed to making this trip happen.
Ava was thrilled to have her tea and croissant, saying it was amazing. The fundraiser raised over €21,400 in just a month, and many people shared lovely messages with the family.
They’ll be back in Cork soon, with a hospital appointment waiting for them. But for now, they’re enjoying every moment in Paris, even planning to place a love lock on the famous Pont des Arts bridge.
Cathy shared how much Ava loves the idea of love, saying it means everything to her. Ava even sent a sweet thank you message to everyone who helped them. As they wrapped up their interview, there were happy tears, and they headed off to enjoy more of their holiday in the City of Love.
