Cork based DP Energy secured approval for a 430MW wind farm in Queensland, Australia. Powering 130,000 homes, it marks their third major global project.
Australia approved their Callide Wind Farm project. This renewable project has a 430MW capacity, that can power 130,000 homes in Queensland. The wind farm will be near Brisbane, in the Calliope Mountain Range.
This aids Australia’s move from fossil fuels. The project starts this year. Irish experts will install many wind turbines and build the needed distribution network.
This is their third large project in a year. DP will also develop a solar project in Canada called Saamis Solar Project.
The project is located in Alberta, Canada. It is North America’s largest urban solar project. DP is also building a wind farm off Nova Scotia.
DP Energy also has projects in Ireland. These include Lyra Wind farm in Mayo, which could generate 100MW. Aries Wind Farm is also in Mayo, and it might generate 50MW. They have projects off Clare, Kerry, Cork and Waterford too.
Hugh Cantwell spoke about the Australian project. He said they worked with the Department, adding that DP is ready to help Australia. Cantwell looks forward to project construction, which will help Queensland’s energy future.
