Cork Gardaí took action after spotting two boys riding a quad bike dangerously in Mahon, raising safety concerns among local residents.
The Blackrock Community Gardaí, Smiddy and Ring, were on patrol when they noticed the quad in a public park. It turned out that two ten-year-old boys were driving it without any adult supervision.
Gardaí called this behavior illegal and highly dangerous. They took the quad bike under the Road Traffic Act and brought it back to the station.
Quad bikes can be risky, especially in neighborhoods. Injuries happen more often than you’d think. A study showed that many accidents involved young riders, with head injuries being the most common.
A Garda spokesperson mentioned that there had been several reports about a quad bike in Mahon. During their routine patrol, they intercepted the boys in the park.
This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Just last month, Gardaí seized scramblers from youths in the same area. After hearing from residents, they contacted the parents of one of the scrambler riders, leading to the bikes being taken away.
