The Blackwater Viaduct will be closed in both directions. This closure is due to the Red Weather Alert from 2 AM to 10 AM. It’s a big deal, and they want to keep everyone safe.
This area is known for strong crosswinds during storms. High-sided vehicles can easily get blown over. So, even if the road is empty, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
The closure will start between Junction 14 and Junction 15 at 9 PM. They might close it earlier if the weather gets worse.
Drivers will need to take a detour. Southbound traffic will go through Fermoy town. Northbound traffic will also use the same route.
