Cork City Pizza Slice Shop Closes as Hospitality Crisis Deepens

Cork: Another beloved spot has shut down. Frankie’s Slice Shop on Grand Parade has closed its doors. The team shared their sadness over the decision. They were proud of what they accomplished in such a short time.

Frankie’s opened in April 2023. It was located in a lovely riverside unit. Before that, the spot had been empty since 2019. The owners were experienced, having run Palmento Pizza for over 30 years.

Sadly, the current climate was just too tough. The owners mentioned the well-known struggles in the hospitality industry. A spokesperson expressed their heavy hearts over the closure. They thanked their staff and supporters for their hard work.

But it’s not all bad news for Italian food lovers in Cork. While Frankie’s is closing, a new restaurant just opened. Don Gregorio’s, a pasta-focused spot, had a successful opening night.

They plan to offer both quick to-go options and sit-down meals. Plus, they’ve brought in a chef from Italy to create authentic dishes with fresh pasta. So, there’s still hope for foodies in the city!
