Cork: The only spot for coffee and snacks in Fitzgerald’s Park has closed. The Natural Foods Bakery shut its doors yesterday, leaving a gap in the park.

Cork City Council plans to find a new operator for a coffee shop in the park. It’s a lovely area, perfect for enjoying some fresh air near the city center.

The cafe was a nice-sized place right behind the Cork Public Museum. It had a great outdoor seating area with views of the Sky Garden and River Lee.

Staff were informed recently about the closure. The owners decided to focus on their popular harborside cafe in Blackrock, which will remain open.

The Natural Foods Bakery is well-loved in Blackrock, especially near the Marina Promenade. They celebrated 22 years in business last October, starting small in 2003.

Over the years, they’ve built a great reputation in Cork for fresh bread and delicious treats. It’s a real loss for the park and the community.
