Newton Aycliffe: Big changes are happening! A new hub is being built to help vulnerable people in County Durham. This project is super important for the community.

Construction kicked off this week at the old Woolworth’s store on Beveridge Way. Local police have worked hard for years to make this happen. It’s a one-stop shop for anyone needing help or advice.

There’s even a space for police officers to be on-site, ready to assist. The project got a boost from a £713,000 Government grant and a £200,000 donation from Freshwater Property Management.

Sergeant Andy Boyd from Durham Constabulary shared how Lifeline Community Action has been crucial in making this dream a reality. He’s proud to lead this project with such dedicated partners.

Pauline Chambers from LCA is thrilled too. She mentioned that the new hub will allow them to help many more people. Right now, they’re working from two cramped locations.

They’re still looking for donations to finish the project, needing about £150,000 more. If you want to help, you can call or email them. It’s a great cause!
