A man’s body discovered in Wark Forest remains unidentified after 35 years, with possible links to a missing American.
Northumberland: A man’s body was found in Wark Forest 35 years ago. Sadly, he still hasn’t been identified.
The body was discovered on February 2, 1990. It likely had been there for four to twelve months before being found.
Some believe the man might be Christopher Oliver, an American. But his identity remains unconfirmed.
He was between 20 and 40 years old, standing about 5ft 6in to 5ft 8in tall. He had brown, wavy hair and dark skin.
When found, he wore a green anorak, a Lee denim jacket, and mismatched shoes—size 8 on the left and 8.5 on the right.
His outfit also included blue trousers, a brown money belt, and a black digital watch. He had a blue rucksack with him.
The rucksack contained two blue ropes, a grey torch, and two plastic bottles—one with water and one with whiskey. There was also a book titled “History of London.”
A hotel employee thought the man looked like a former guest named Christopher Oliver, who checked in in 1989. The book found with the body matched one missing from the hotel.
Despite efforts from the Missing Persons Bureau, the man’s identity remains a mystery. Locate International is asking anyone with information to come forward.
