Hexham: A charity in memory of Holly Newton has installed a bleed box at the Northumberland County Show headquarters. This is a special first aid kit for emergencies.

Holly was just 15 when she was tragically murdered by her ex-boyfriend in January 2023. He was sentenced to life in prison for his crime.

Her parents, Micala and Lee Trussler, started a nonprofit called Holly’s Hope. They aim to place bleed boxes in public areas to help in emergencies.

The first kit was set up at Hexham Abbey in July 2024. Now, another one is ready for the County Show in May 2025, where Holly’s Hope will have a stand.

While they hope the box won’t be needed, organizers want to promote its importance. It can help in various emergencies, not just stabbings.

Lee Trussler expressed gratitude for the support from the County Show. He hopes more events will recognize the need for life-saving equipment.

Recently, Sir Keir Starmer discussed lowering the age for recognizing domestic abuse victims, responding to calls from Holly’s parents.
